2025 Community Context Assessment Focus Groups FAQ Sheet
What is the Community Health Assessment (CHA)?
o The CHA is conducted by the Southern Nevada Health District every three to five years and provides an overview of health information and helps identify populations that may be at increased risk of poor health outcomes. The CHA looks at core health indicators such as demographic and socioeconomic status, maternal and child health, infectious diseases, chronic diseases, mental and behavioral health, health care access, environmental health, crime and overall wellness.
· How long will it take?
o ~1-1.5 hours
· What is the maximum capacity per focus group?
o Each group will be capped at 15 - first come first serve on registrations
· Is there a virtual option?
o No, all focus groups will be held in-person - locations and addresses provided on flyer.
· Am I supposed to receive a confirmation email after registering?
o No, there is no immediate confirmation email - but we will send a reminder email 1-2 days before your focus group, so stay on the look out for the email. If you want to confirm and/or have questions please contact Amanda Haboush-Deloye at Amanda.Haboush@UNLV.edu
· When is the last day to participate?
o Please look at the specific flyer focus group you have registered for, we are taking registrations until we max out at 15 people per group.
· What is the purpose of the focus groups?
o We want to hear directly and verbally from you on what the issues are in Southern Nevada and how we can better help improve your health and the community you live in.
· Will my responses be kept confidential?
o There will be consent forms for all participants, please indicate if you would want your responses confidential or not. Your responses will help us in our final assessment towards the community.
· What will I get out of participating?
o This is an opportunity to have your voice be heard and a $50 incentive gift card for your time.
· How can I help promote the focus groups?
o Please share with your friends, family, coworkers, any person you interact with in Clark County that are eligible for the groups.
· Who is eligible to be apart of the focus groups?
o People with Disabilities (Because of a physical, mental, or emotional condition, do you have serious difficulty concentrating, making decisions, seeing, hearing, dressing yourself, bathing, or running errands alone?)
o Older Adult (60+ years old)
o Veterans
o Rural Population of Southern Nevada (Mesquite)
o American Indian/Alaska Native
o Residents Living in ZIP Code 89101
· What if I am under 18?
o We have a youth focused PhotoVoice project occurring at the moment, if you are interested, please contact Amanda Haboush-Deloye at Amanda.Haboush@UNLV.edu
· How do I stay involved and up to date with the status of the focus groups?
o The Community Health Assessment is scheduled to be published in March 2025 - stay tuned for the final report that includes the focus group results.
